Aero-modelling club

IIT Kanpur combines passion and profession to support the academic journey. The Aeromodelling Club is one of the dynamic disciplines among the hobby clubs at IIT Kanpur, offering enthusiasts the opportunity to embrace their talent for aircraft modeling.

An institutional and technical exploration is highlighted by encouraging the spirits of aerophiles to design, build, and fly miniaturized aircraft (powered or non-powered). The Aeromodelling Club combines both hobby and sport, involving crafting and assembling the model as a recreational pursuit and flying the aircraft as a competitive sporting activity.

This club inspires students to participate in various Tech-fests such as ‘Techkriti’, ‘Inter IIT TechMeet’, and ‘Ongoing Projects’ across the country. The club for aircraft modeling arranges some worthwhile workshops on campus like ‘TAKNEEK’, ‘AEROWEEK’, and ‘SUMMER PROJECTS’.

This club encourages the application of different materials like Balsa Wood and Paper to build the dream aircraft model, including planes and drones. Some examples of premium aircraft by the Aeromodelling Club are ‘QUADPLANE’, ‘COMPOSITE AIRCRAFT’ and ‘BALSA’. This club is a platform forsharpening technical skills by sharing innovative ideas with professionals.
