Gliders Club

Flying and reaching the limitless sky has exhilarated human beings from ancient times. Gliders’ Club is the place to satisfy the thirst of thrill and adventure within the campus community by offering a safe ride.

The primary focus of this club is to provide a temporary solution to the students and the campus residents who dream of flying high. Gliders’ Club focuses on building trust, leadership, and courage among contestants. Gliding, often known as Soaring, signifies air-sport action controlling unpowered aircraft and flying it against the natural current of air.

Flying photography is an exciting activity offered by the Gliders’ Club at IIT Kanpur. Videography and photo sessions in air are encouraged in flying sessions. This club organises airsports competitions and workshops on gliding that are categorised in ‘Student Pilot Licence’ and ‘Gliding Pilot Licence’. The Gliders’ Club, IIT Kanpur also arranges lectures and training on the basics of gliding and cockpit.

Exploring the heights of boldness through gliding sports allows one to break one’s boundaries and experience recreation to the fullest. Interacting with other contenders during a workshop or competition fosters self-confidence. The safety and security of the participants is the priority of this sporting Club.
