Prof. Kumar Vaibhav Srivastava is a Professor at the Department of Electrical Engineering. 
 

He obtained his MTech and PhD in Electrical Engineering from IIT Kanpur in 2004 and 2008 respectively. After having industrial research experience at General Electric (GE), Global Research Centre, Bangalore, he joined IIT Kanpur as a faculty member in 2009. 
 

Prof. Srivastava’s research areas include Meta-Materials, Microwave Antennas, Microwave Metamaterial Absorbers, Microwave Metamaterial Cloaking, Finite-Difference Time-Domain (FD-TD) Technique, and Electromagnetics. Prof. Srivastava has been a patron of the institute not just as a long standing faculty, but also as an alumnus, and brings immense knowledge and leadership skills with him. He has served on numerous committees of the institute in various capacities. He has also served as Head, Department of Electrical Engineering, IIT Kanpur. He is involved in several research projects with the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO), Ministry of Education (MoE), General Electric (GE) etc., 
 

Prof. Srivastava received several awards and recognition including the Young Fellowship Award (Class of 1979 Research Fellowship) and Dr. Shukla Faculty Research Fellowship, Excellence in Teaching Award-2020, and 'IEI (Institution of Engineer, INDIA) Young Engineer Award for the year 2014-15 for his significant contribution in Electrical Engineering. He has received Motohisa Kanda Award 2022 for the highest citations among all the papers published in the last 5 years (2017-2021) in IEEE Transactions on Electromagnetic Compatibility. He has received several Best Paper Awards in international conferences. He is currently Sanjay & Rachna Pradhan Chair Professor at IIT Kanpur.
