Sand Equivalent Test
- This test is commonly used for indicating relative proportion of clay like material and fine dust in granular soil or graded aggregate.
The sample to be tested is placed in a special chemical solution (calcium chloride, formaldehyde and glycerin). After shaking the cylinder, it is allowed to stand for some specified period for sedimentation. Readings are then taken on the cylinder scale for the level of clay suspension and sand
