Society of Automotive Engineers

Society of Automotive Engineers or SAE at IIT Kanpur is a revolutionary student-run organization fostering real-life engineering practices over theoretical knowledge imparted in the classroom. The hobby club for automotive engineers came into force in January 2011 to bridge the chasm between theoretical concepts and professional pursuit. An urge to design and build a ‘racecar’ is the primary mission of this club.

Nurturing an automotive culture within the campus community complements the theories and equips engineers with the ability to overcome real-world challenges. This club helps students to connect with automotive pioneers across the globe by organizing talent-hunt shows and competitions. Students from different disciplines with a keen interest in automotive skills avail the opportunity to learn from successful individuals through workshops and programs arranged by SAE. 

‘Formula SAE Electric’ is an example of EV cars powered by this club, reflecting their contribution to the industrial world as well as the economy of the country by replacing fuel-based systems. SAE IIT Kanpur provides adequate knowledge in business and engineering in the practical field thus helping the aspirants to prosper in their chosen career. 

SAE at IIT Kanpur arranges competitions like FORMULA SAE, BAJA SAE Design competition, Shell Eco-Marathon, and EFFI CYCLE to inspire enthusiasts to enhance their efficacy in automotive practices.
