The Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IIT Kanpur), a distinguished institution recognized for its academic excellence, stands as a thriving nucleus for research and innovation. Patents & IPR

Functioning as the institutional Technology Transfer Office, SIIC diligently collaborates with the dedicated and resourceful IITK Faculty and aspiring students, offering them invaluable professional assistance in the intricate process of patent and copyright filings. The center has been a catalyst in the protection of these innovative ideas and concepts. So far, the centre has filed 242 patents.

Moreover, SIIC extends its pivotal role by actively engaging in the evolution and enhancement of software/products developed by the faculty/students. This is strategically achieved by aligning these creations with the ever-evolving requirements of the industry, made possible through collaborative partnerships with discerning commercial entities. In this collaborative endeavor, the involved faculty members serve as mentors, providing guidance and expertise to ensure the successful integration of academic innovations with market demands.

The commercial partner, an essential cog in this collaboration, takes on the responsibilities of product marketing and customer support, thus ensuring a seamless transition from creation to application and impacting a broader audience.

In essence, the amalgamation of the academic vigor of IIT Kanpur, the protection of intellectual capital through SIIC, and the strategic alignment with commercial partners embodies a harmonious synergy, enriching the academic landscape and propelling technological innovations into the domain of practicality, benefiting society at large.
